Service interaction management in SIP user device using Feature Interaction Management Language

چکیده
Emerging packet-switched architectures, such as Internet telephony, introduce new complications to manage the Feature Interaction (FI) problem. Those difficulties are generated by sophisticated technical properties. The latter are mainly distribution of data and control, equipment heterogeneity, network openness to third party service providers, and end user programmability. Our solution approach to this complicated situation, proposed in previous work, consists in establishing a cooperation relation among all the involved business players. This results in an architecture model, where an authors designed service description language, called FIML, plays the role of cooperation interface between the involved parts. The present paper presents the results of an experimental research performed on a SIP-based Internet telephony framework. The aim is to implement and test the user device part of the proposed architecture model. So, single-user-single-component FI are detected and solved in user device. For that purpose, we introduced a service creation environment and a FI management procedure. The article explains how those software elements have contributed to manage FI, in a step-by-step manner, where semantic errors are detected and avoided, then FI are detected and solved, and finally, user preferred reactions to possible exclusion of some preferences are specified to be applied at runtime.

Multi-agents SIP architecture for online Feature Interaction detection and resolution
This article presents a multi-agents architecture solution for runtime management of feature interactions (FI) in SIP-based networks. The problem that is addressed results from a major SIP architecture property: services are distributed over many nodes in the network, including application servers, third party providers, and sophisticated end user devices. Consequently, information about servic...

A SOHO (Small Office or Home Office) architecture can be sketched as an architecture that involves an ITSP (Internet Telephony Service Provider) and subscribers. The ITSP offers SIP protocol based telephony and presence services for subscribers. A subscriber has a single billing account but several addresses (also called extensions or numbers). Each of those addresses can be assigned to a devic...
متن کاملHandling Feature Interactions in the Language for End System Services
Since traditional telecommunication networks assume dumb terminals, there are rarely feature interactions involving end systems. However, in Internet telephony systems, such feature interactions are more likely. We defined a new scripting language called the Language for End System Services (LESS) specifically for end system service creation. One of the design goals of the language is to make i...
متن کاملDetection and resolution of feature interactions in IP multimedia subsystem
The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) enables the delivery of multimedia services through different access networks. 3GPP adopted Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) as the IMS signalling protocol. However, IMS interaction with these services faces the “Feature Interaction” problem encountered in traditional telephony networks. This problem occurs as features invoked during a session behave correctly...

A lot of attractive applications in addition to manipulation of session related signaling involve specific processing at media level such as playing media, prompting and collecting media from the user, mixing media streams etc. One of the ways of provisioning applications in managed all IP-based multimedia networks, is based on Open Service Access (OSA) service platform. The paper investigates ...
